Activities and Events at Chateau Saveilles
To entertain, educate or just have a good time with family and friends, the Château Saveilles offers a range of activities (tours, play trails for children and young people, hot-air balloon flights) and is organising events for you in 2025.
Activities
Opening period 2025 (in & -off season) to visits
Chateau Saveilles is open to visitors:
- for self-guided tours

- from 7 July to 21 September 2025,
Site open from 1 pm to 7 pm, every day except Saturday - Closed on July 25th and 7th and 8th August 2025
- from 7 July to 21 September 2025,
- for guided tours

- on 7th and 8th June 2025 (Les Rendez-vous aux jardins)
- from 7 July to 21 September 2025
on Sundays, 14 July and 15 August, at 2pm and 4pm
Closed on 27 July 2025 - on 20th and 21st September 2025 (European Heritage Days)
Outside the above periods, guided tours can be organised by appointment.
Vélidéale and Château Saveilles
Since 1st July 2024, La Vélidéale, the cyclo-tourism route linking Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique) to Lac de Vassivière in Creuse and crossing the Charente, has been open. From Chef-Boutonne to Ruffec, this route leaves the Mellois region to join the Charente, using small country roads.
The route passes through the Château de Saveilles in the Charente.
To discover this section of the Vélidéale route, click on the image opposite. At the Château de Saveilles (visit site), you and your little "queen" will be welcomed:
- a safe place to tie up your mechanical steed;
- a repair workshop at your disposal;
- an electric point to recharge your VAE (Electrical Assistance Bike);
- shade and picnic tables where you can rest and enjoy your own food and drink;
- a water point at your disposal;
- guided or self-guided tours of the exterior of the château and its chapel.
If you would like to make the most of your stopover and are interested in a guided tour of the château, please book 48 hours in advance (Payment on site).

Les Rendez-vous aux jardins - June 6th, 7th & 8th 2025
Historic visit in a bucolic setting
Every year since 2003, the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, in collaboration with the French Parks and Gardens Committee, has been celebrating the beauty of gardens through the
“Rendez-vous aux Jardins” event. This not-to-be-missed event takes place on the first weekend in June.
On this occasion, Château Saveilles opens its doors to offer you a unique experience.
Join us for guided tours led by the owner himself, who will tell you all about the history of the château, nestled in a verdant setting. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in an
enchanting setting!
The park, entirely enclosed by walls, offers a glimpse of this imposing 14th-century fortified castle, enlarged into a Renaissance residence in the 16th century, through its lines of trees and
along the moat that has surrounded it for seven centuries.

Are you passionate about lyric art, opera or bel canto? Or perhaps you're simply curious to immerse yourself in this enchanting universe? Reserve your evening on August 8, 2025!
In partnership with “Opéra Clandestin”, we invite you to experience “Un soir d'été à Saveilles”, a unique opportunity to discover opera singing through the opera “Raconte-moi Orphée aux
enfers”, an adaptation of Jacques Offenbach's “Orphée aux enfers”.
Come and enjoy this musical experience in the magnificent setting of the Château de Saveilles, and let yourself be enchanted by the magic of opera!

European Heritage Days - September 20th & 21st, 2025
Since 1984, the European Heritage Days have been a major cultural event held on the 3rd weekend in September, demonstrating the public's interest in its history. Every year, 17,000 monuments come
alive thanks to public and private initiatives.
These days are an opportunity to meet the enthusiasts, both volunteers and professionals, who work on a daily basis to recognize, safeguard and showcase our heritage.
The 42nd European Heritage Days will take place on September 20th and 21st, 2025.
The European Heritage Days are coordinated at national level by the Ministry of Culture, and in each region by the Regional Directorates of Cultural Affairs (DRAC).
