La Vélidéale: a dream route for cycle tourists
Since 1 July 2024, La Vélidéale has been inviting cycling enthusiasts to explore a route linking Saint-Nazaire to Lake Vassivière, passing through the Charente region.
Between Chef-Boutonne and Ruffec, enjoy picturesque country lanes and unspoilt countryside that will take you to Château Saveilles, an ideal stop for cycle tourists.

'Accueil Vélo' : a particular label for welcoming cyclists at Chateau Saveilles
The Château de Saveilles site has held the ‘Accueil Vélo’ accreditation from France Vélo Tourisme since January 2025.
‘Accueil Vélo’ establishments are easily identifiable by the logo displayed at their entrance.
Chateau Saveilles welcomes cyclists from La Vélidéale with a warm welcome, ensuring your stopover is a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
On site, you will find:
- a secure area to park your bike;
- a repair workshop for minor repairs;
- a charging point for electric bikes (e-bikes);
- shaded areas with picnic tables for taking a break;
- a water point to refresh yourself.;
- guided or self-guided tours of the exterior of the château and its chapel.
If you would like to make the most of your stopover and are interested in a guided tour of the château, please book 48 hours in advance (Payment on site).
